Enjoy the new “Master of the Forest” with the Monkey 47 Distiller’s Cut edition.

Monkey 47 founder Alexander Stein believes that adding locally grown wildflowers to Monkey 47’s recipe sets it apart.

“This year’s Distiller’s Cut is proof that good things can really be found right before your eyes,” he said in a statement. “At Schwarzwald Distillery, one of the experiences we are very proud to offer guests is exploring the amazing ingredients that can be sourced within a 7-kilometer radius of the distillery — this year’s Distiller’s Cut is a tribute to these hidden gems and further proof that we leave no stone unturned when it comes to Taste Adventures.”

Since Monkey 47 gin has been doing this for over a decade, we’ll do away with the usual introduction… OK, —a quick rundown for newcomers to botanical curiosity, obsessive pursuit of quality, and numerous expeditions to hunt exotic things aroma, Species rare-et voilà.

According to the brand, nutmeg’s unique flavor is due to its coumarin content, a chemical compound that gives it a vanilla note. The leaves are dried for several weeks before being added to the botanical mixture, which is then soaked in alcohol before distillation. The tasting notes for this year’s Distiller’s Cut describe it as a dry gin with top notes of cinnamon and vanilla. It sounds like a good Negroni component and potentially an interesting Martini base.

2022 Monkey 47 Distiller’s Cut is a spicy and elegant dry gin with delicate, almost ethereal top notes of cinnamon and vanilla against a backdrop of exceptional density and complexity. It is a remarkable taste experience, and not only for those who appreciate the refined aroma of the wood.

In this year’s edition, we didn’t have to sail the seas, climb mountains, or go deep underground to find our almost mythical
8th ingredient. Have you ever noticed that some of the best things have been right in front of you all along? Count us as believers in that old cliché after our instincts led us to the wooded area just outside the gates of our Höfe 2 distillery in search of the kind of fresh wooden stairs that can only be found here in the Black Forest.
