Continuity at former Eagle mine: Maple Gold finding new life

Maple Gold Mines (TSXV: MGM) reported full assay results from four drill holes and partial assay results from five additional holes on the 100%-controlled Eagle mine property in Québec.

Digitization and modeling of previously completed historical drill results and additional review of drill logs indicated that the main mine may be located south of the horizon, northwest of the previously producing Eagle mine, in an area targeted for further drilling.

The new results confirm the continuity of the South Mine horizon at a relatively shallow vertical depth, suggest a local extension of the mineralized zone in the area, and further suggest the potential for discordant orthotrends at Eagle.

2022 drilling results show vertical continuity of the South Mine horizon at 350 meters from the surface; known mineralization extends to a vertical depth of approximately 800 meters on adjacent sections and remains open along strike to the northwest and at depth.
Drill hole EM-22-13 intersected 2.3 g/t gold over 10.4 meters, including 5.0 g/t gold over 3.2 meters (from the 257-meter bottom hole). Hole EM-22-16 intersected 3.1 g/t gold over 7.3 meters, including5.0 g/t gold over 3.6 meters (the last of the 193-meter bottom hole).
Drill hole EM-22-10 intersects 14g/t gold over 0.5 m (539.5 m bottom hole) and 8.3 g/t gold over 1.0 m (543 m bottom hole); this hole also probed the South Mine horizon, more than 200 meters further southeast.
Eagle has approximately 2,250 meters of core still awaiting assay results and approximately 1,500 meters of drilling to be completed this year.
“These new results at Eagle confirm our modeling interpretations and demonstrate the potential to define significant zones of gold mineralization beyond what has been historically mined at Eagle in a much lower gold price environment,” said Fred Speidel, Maple Gold’s director of exploration.
“In an area of relatively shallow multigram gold strikes that remains open for approximately 200 meters along the Eagle property boundary and an additional 1.5 kilometers on joint-dominated ground, exploration highlights remnants of establishing this earlier mining trend,” Speidel said.
