Saudi Arabia Sends First Commercial Shipment of Blue Ammonia to the World.

Blue ammonia has made its way from Saudi Arabia to South Korea, marking a new milestone in the development of carbon removal solutions.
The development was first announced at the recent Saudi Green Initiative conference in Sharm El-Sheikh, and the vessel Seasurfer, which is carrying 25 kilometers of low-carbon blue ammonia, is expected to reach its destination between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. worldwide on December 1. the first trade show of its kind.

Breakthrough, an alternative to traditional gray ammonia, is part of a collaboration between Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, Agri-Nutrients, and Aramco.

Lotte Fine Chemical, which has a long-term relationship with Sabic AN, receives low-carbon blue ammonia “cradle to gate.”
Abdulrahman Shamsaddin, CEO of SABIC AN, said: “This shipment is another milestone in our journey to carbon neutrality.”
“We are proud to be part of this pioneering solution that paves the way for subsequent carbon emissions.”

Yong Suk Kim, CEO of LFC, said: “We are pleased to enter into this significant agreement with our long-term supplier SABIC Agri-Nutrients to receive the world’s first certified blue ammonium cargo.


“Based on our shared history, we look forward to working together to move into the new Ammonian age.” “We believe this shipment of blue ammonia will help lay the foundation for a global supply chain.”


Earlier this year, SABIC, AN, and Aramco received the world’s first independent certificates recognizing blue ammonia and blue hydrogen production from the leading independent tester. TUV Rheinland is one of the country’s leading inspection and certification bodies, based in Germany. 

Shipment of blue ammonia to South Korea is the first to benefit from this significant certification achievement.
The new development is in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which focuses on low-carbon fuel, products, solutions, and clean energy.
