September 28 – GE Renewable Energy today announced that it will supply turbines for 218.7 MW of wind energy projects in the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh.
The orders come from subsidiaries of renewable energy platform Continuum Green Energy Ltd., which is the majority owner of a fund managed by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners.
As a result, 81 of General Electric’s (NYSE: GE) onshore wind turbines will be delivered, installed, and commissioned. Wind farms bring energy to local businesses and consumers.
The new contract follows GE’s agreements last year to supply turbines for Continuum’s 148.5 MW Morjar, Bhuj, and 99.9 MW Rajkot wind projects in Gujarat.
“We look forward to our partnership with Continuum as they continue to build their renewable energy portfolio in India,” said Deepak Maloo, GE Renewable Energy’s regional sales director for Asia-Pacific Offshore Wind, adding that last year the company received more than 2 GW of orders in the country, making it one of the largest wind turbine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) suppliers.
GE will use its local footprint to fulfill the order, including product design primarily at its technology center in Bengaluru, blade manufacturing at its factories in Vadodara, and assembly at GE’s multimodal manufacturing facility in Pune.
