World-renowned Bugatti designer unveils new line of luxurious superyachts

Cantieri di Pisa brings great sports car energy to the high seas.

The Italian shipyard has just unveiled a series of sculptural superyachts designed by an accomplished automotive designer. According to Boat International, the new Akhir range includes three flybridge yachts designed by Etienne Salomè.

The Berlin-based designer has previously worked with the likes of Bugatti and Koenigsegg and is therefore capable of creating stylish, aerodynamic rides. Available in 110, 122, and 10 feet, the Yachts combine traditionally sporty aesthetics with the aggressive style of, for example, the Veyron. Each model has smooth lines, a gun shaped around the bow, and glasses that run from the frame to the superstructure.

The newcomers are made from a mix of composite and carbon fibre to reduce combat weight and improve performance on waves.
Speaking of grunts, the trio has quite a few.The Akhir 110 is powered by twin Caterpillar C32 engines rated at 2400 horsepower, a top speed of 29 knots, and a range of 900 nautical miles. The larger Akhir 122 and Akhir 140, on the other hand, are available with different propulsion systems, offering speeds of 27–30 knots and 800-900 nautical miles.

In the Onboard, you will find all the functions you need. For example, the open terraces offer additional space and an unobstructed sea view. The interior design changes with each model, but you can expect expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in plenty of natural light. Oh, and the flybridges offer plenty of room for entertaining.

Cantieri di Pisa became famous in the 1960s for motorboats named after the stars of the Eridanus constellation. However, the nearly hundred-year-old yard has shown that it can keep up with the times.

The team recently studied sailboats, especially innovative America’s Cup competitors, to see how adjusting the weight distribution can lead to increased speed and fuel efficiency. The factory’s next project, the 80 Veloce, will test this knowledge with a 98 percent carbon hull that is said to allow speeds over 60 knots. That’s more energy than big supercars have
